Hey Pat, good to see you working on this! Wink

My comments on some movies: (Possible fucking spoiler alert, idk)

Hancock: Great idea for a movie buuuuut it didn't work out as well as it could. ***/*****

Hulk: Damn nice, not nearly as much bullpoop as the first one. ****/*****

Dark Knight: Oh my holy fucking air! I went to see this one with extra sound, twas a real "yay"!
It took me two times (once with my mates at home, once with my old man here in NOR) to get the storyline but only one time to get the awesomeness of Heathcliff's amazing act! It really was too good to be true to have a batman movie with the Joker in it but the epicness can kill an elephant! (rawr!!!) ********************/*****

I recently saw the following films:

Indy IV: -- Worth the see.  Fully up to expectation, but nothing more!   H.F. and K.A. are really past it a bit, but Cate was - characteristically - great!  6/10

Hancock:  -- Very, very poor; don't bother to see it.  I like Will Smith, and Charlize Theron (who doesn't?), but sillly and rather corny movie!  3/10

Hellboy II: -- See it!  Quirky movie.  As much fun as Hellboy the first.  8/10

Tropic Thunder: -- Worth seeing.  Fun movie.  7/10

Iron Man: -- Worth seeing  7/10

Hulk.  Worth seeing.  6/10

The Dark Knight: -- Worth seeing.  it is an hour longer than it should be.  Heath Ledger is totally up to billing!  6/10  (if it were an hour shorter, 7/10)

Wall-E.  An absolutely must see!  First-class, clever with genuine funny bits.  Is a little corny in places, but very, very good animated movie!  Watch for the casual little pieces of cleverness delivered en passant, for the movie is filled with them!  Pixar really has this type of movie firmly in grip! 9/10

Hamlet 2:  I enjoyed it, but this is definitely not for everyone.  Odd and very whimsical.  7/10

I've just been to see Star Trek.

The Best film I've seen in ages.
Action packed and funny too.

Here's a review in Klingon.

I saw Star Trek this weekend and have to say it is the best out of all the ST movies. I am a big trekkie fan and was a little unsure about wanting to see it but I left the cinema wanting to see it again. Classic one liners and brilliant action sequences. It was a good idea to show how they all got together and even better to see Leonard back as Spock. Well recommended even for non-ST fans.

I asw Angels and Demons the other night and I was impressed. For those Dan Brown fans its a pretty good account of the book and a much better made film than the Da Vinci Code,

Ah, I was gonna go and see that as well but the gap between the end of ST and the next showing of A&D was too much for me to wait. I love Dan Brown but did think the film went a lot away from the book. I think they did that to make it more appealing to film goers than to the lovers of the book. I have read A&D as well so thanks for the heads up Tim. It was my main concern.

Dan Brown's books do not impress me, and the first of the two movies was not good enough to entice me to see the second.  Moreover, Tom Hanks, great as he is, is too old for the part, and Opie is simply not a strong enough director to get a really menacing feel to the DaVinci Code movie, and, I would guess (since I will not see it), to the A&D movie.

But I did see ST, and it was pretty damned good.  Spock was excellent, and, my word, but Uhura sizzled!  Bones was really good.  Simon Pegg as Scotty was OK.  I did, however, have some trouble buying Kirk as a young man.  The idea was to show young Kirk as an unconventional and original thinker, but unfortunately, the movie instead presented him as an egotistical, rude, smug, reckless, uncaring, self-centred, smart-alecky, smarmy, snotty, know-all, pain-in-the-neck who would have been much improved had he been soundly spanked on a regular basis, who should be allowed nowhere near civilized people, and who would surely have been THE LAST to be handed control of a big expensive space ship.  However, he was not a bad Kirk once you got by this! Wink
