OK

So I have kids and I'm on the front line of this debate, but it doesent mean others cant voice an opinion please Smiley

The way I see it is..when I was a lad ...  Roll Eyes hehe yes I did mean that   Smiley we never had internet.. and we certainly didnt have gaming consoles of the power we have now.

I look at my 15 year old son and I have to say I'm getting worried.. he any many like him I suspect are becoming addicted to the internet, online gaming and gaming consoles, which I believe are thieving him/them of an education.

You could argue .. that me posting here now suggests I am no better, .. but I already have a job, and an income, you could also argue that they may use the online community to get a job or gain skills worthy of a career.. with which I dont disagree .. but I am seeing an increasingly large amount of time spent playing games and on social network sites, all of which deprive him/others of study time for exams

We deal with,  and limit his time on consoles, etc but its a hell of a hard message to get across when the games are so involving and addictive

Also they claim to be doing work online and in actual fact the internet gives them a huge set of excuses to avoid it .. particularly when they are supposed to use the internet as a study tool  Undecided

So I'm not just posting this my benefit .. I think there is a real problem here .. Internet addiction.. who goes outside to say hello to a neighbour anymore ? .

Hmm..., I wouldn't say that. Cheesy Deep inside myself I know that all the time that I spend with gaming or working on my PC, is not the real life. Ok.., somehow computers and internet have become a part of our lifes and human society, but I feel that this is not ok. We are concentrating too much on electronic things, and forget by this what life really means. This is the reason why I am always happy when summer time comes, because I like to use this time every year for going out in the nature as often as I can (most with my bicycle), just to get a compensation to the other side of my life.

The last years I have also become more and more the feeling, that I would like to get completely out of all these electronic addictions, and live on a farm in Australia or travel around the world to see what life really is and to understand...

I don't think that our kids should concentrate too much on internet and computers, just to not forget what we humans and life really are... Geek
