I am not much of a one for country music (to say the least), but is the duo Brooks and Dunn (featuring Ronnie Dunn, the preacher with the wonderful voice) known over in England?  They were megastars over here.  Some YouTube links:

But here is Goose Creek Symphony, a saucy and original group that most of you almost certainly don't know:

I'll be interested in what you think about this last rather eccentric group.  Don't let their hillbilly style put you off ... they are incredible musicians.  I cannot find the original recording of that last song (that I heard in the early 70's); it has some absolutely incredible drumming in it  If anyone can point me to a source for it, I would be most grateful!   Grin

Hello WeeWilly, I have the album for that track in the last video, in mp3 format.

The album is called  "Goose Creek Symphony - est 1970" and I have uploaded a copy to my Rapidshare account, so you can grab a copy.  The link is below.   If you don't have a Rapidshare account and have trouble downloading on the free service, let me know, and I will upload it to my Mediafire account.

Code:

Enjoy!  Smiley

*Edit*  Forgot to add, your second Youtube video is blocked in the UK as it has Vevo content who have blocked it on copyright grounds, so we can't see it.  Sad

I also have 2 tracks by Brooks & Dunn in my collection, "Boot Scootin' Boogie" and "The Long Goodbye" both from compilation albums, but not the the track in your first video, which is mighty fine.

Wow!  I don't have a Rapidshare account, EW.  Are you able to send me an email with the MP3 as an attachment?  Who knows, perhaps it'll earn you a beer if and when I next get to England and have an opportunity to hook up with you!  Amazing that you have run across this very out-of-the-way bohunk band.  Big Grin

I hadn't run into the kind of YouTube restrictions you speak about until I spent time in China last September/October.  There, all sorts of websites are restricted, and, as far as I am concerned, this fact  threatens to leave that country in the dark ages.  Have I mentioned how much I hate censorship OF ANY KIND!  Where do a bunch of fat bureaucrats get off deciding what the rest of us should be permitted to watch or not watch ... but oh, yeah, I have strayed off-topic yet again, for I am an anarchist at heart in that I distrust and suspect anything imposed on us by The Man!  Finger

"Boots Scootin' Boogie" is a lovely wee tune, and I am delighted that you know it.

You don't need an rapid account just download it, it wont allow full speed thats all so takes a little longer. Plus you downloading without an  account gives Mick some rapid points.

Electric_Warrior:

Many thanks for the Goose Creek songs.  Wonderful!  I did indeed download from Rapidshare, and "Talkin About Goose Creek and Other Important Places" is indeed the version I remember. You really have earned that beer!

Thanks, keefy, for the heads-up on Rapidshare (that I had never used before).
